SDCC 2013: Interview with the Green Ranger, Jason David Frank!

We here at OTF are a young-ish crowd. I was born smack dab in the middle of the 1980s, and I was about to start the third grade when Power Rangers first aired on Fox Kids.

Basically, I was Saban’s targeted demographic. And, damn, they got me good.

Naturally, I was drawn toward the Green Ranger: starting out as a minion of Rita Repulsa, he eventually became one of the strongest Power Rangers ever.  I may not have realized it at the tender age of nine, but I loved stories of redemption.

I watched every episode of the original series. I dressed as the Green Ranger for Halloween. I begged my parents for the dagger that played the six memorable notes of the Dragonzord. I used the zords in an class assignment to write about my favorite mythical creatures.

So, when we got to talk to Green Ranger Jason David Frank himself almost twenty years later, it was a bit surreal. Unsurprisingly, I was far from the first guy he encountered who had literally grown up with the series. Graciously, he appreciated my support all the same. It’s easy to get jaded in that type of environment, but you can tell he just loves interacting with the fans. (Just look at his 2013 schedule — he tries to make just about every convention he can!)

Be sure to follow Jason on Twitter and on Facebook! He interacts directly with all of the people who send him love from all over the world because he’s awesome.
