One of the most exciting events at Comic-Con isn't taking place in the Convention Center. Nerd HQ is planting its flag in San Diego once again, just two blocks away from the convention floor at Block No. 16 Union and Spirits (344 7th Ave., San Diego, CA 92101)!
Headed by The Nerd Machine founders Zachary Levi and Dave Coleman, Nerd HQ will once again be the home for all nerds - open to those with and without con badges. Sponsored by Xbox, Square Enix, VIZIO, and Break Media, Nerd HQ will invite all guests to play some video games, buy some Nerd Machine merchandise, and hang out with like-minded geeks in this oasis in the nerd desert.
“The Nerd Machine was proud to create a unique fan experience in 2011, offering exclusive access to new games, technology and an opportunity for intimate conversations with some of Hollywood's elite creative minds,” said Levi. “Last year the response was overwhelming. We at The Nerd Machine, look forward to meeting the challenge to develop 2012 Nerd HQ to exceed not only our expectations, but those who plan to attend worldwide, while maintaining a connection not available anywhere else.”
Of course, the most popular events from Nerd HQ are the "Conversations for a Cause," an intimate gathering between fans and their favorite celebrities/content creators, with all proceeds supporting Operation Smile. While this year's "Conversations" line up has yet to be revealed, last year’s participants included Kevin Smith, Jared Padalecki, Zachary Quinto, Nathan Fillion, Olivia Munn, Felicia Day, Seth Green, and many others, so this year's level of fangasm is expectedly high. Individual tickets will sell for $20.
Can't make it to San Diego for Comic-Con next week? Well, let's face it: you're kind of screwed if you want to get into SDCC, but thanks to the partnership between The Nerd Machine and Break.com, all "Converstions for a Cause" will be livestreamed for the world to enjoy, even if you can't make it out to the West Coast. Also, Spike TV will be broadcasting live from Nerd HQ on Friday, July 13 and Saturday, July 14 to their network and digital outlets through their ALL ACCESS LIVE programming.
We'll be making our way down to Nerd HQ this year, and we'll be sure to report the events from the excitement of the floor! See you nerds there!
