There’s some good news for the stockholders of Venture Industries: The Venture Bros. has been been renewed for a fifth and sixth season!
On his personal blog, Venture co-creator Jackson Publick announced the exciting news to coincide with today’s Blu-Ray and DVD releases of the fourth season. Of course, Adult Swim didn’t intend to let the news out of the bag so early (or so we’re told), but Publick and co-creator Doc Hammer were raving about the news during the DVD commentary, which, as of today, is out in public domain. Oops.
That’s not all the juicy news, though: Publick also revealed that their contract includes a “long-form (60-90 min.)” Venture Bros. special! While they don’t have a clue yet about any details of the long-form special, we can no doubt expect the continued excellence of the smart, quirky, and lightning-fast comedy that we’ve come to know and love over the past four seasons – except, you know, longer.
Good news all around, but what of season 5? The season four finale, Operation P.R.O.M., truly raised the bar on the series (and this is a show whose first season ended with the death of the titular Venture brothers.) Did Molotov die when Monstroso’s limo drove off the cliff? Will Henchman 21 stay with S.P.H.I.N.X. (Sphinx!)? What of Dean’s torn heart for the lovely goth, Triana? Only Publick and Hammer know what’s in store for the next trip around the Venture compound, and they’re not telling if their convention history is any indication (they never answer any question that starts “Will we see…” when referring to upcoming episodes.)
One last bit of news: Publick also announced that they’ve been working on a short 11-min special to whet our appetites. No details were given, but release date is set for this summer.
The Venture Bros.: The Complete Season Four is available today on DVD (in two volumes) and Blu-Ray (in one complete set.)
