It’s been a busy week for snooping photographers.
On the heels of an Emma Frost sighting at Pinewood Studios, another Marvel film property has been spotted across the pond. A motorcycle chase for Captain America: The First Avenger was shooting this week in the London countryside. The Daily Mail has the photos that give us the first look at the final Cap costume.
Much like with Thor, the digital costume renderings that were released several months ago were pretty spot on. Cap’s mask/cowl is now a helmet, the suit itself has a very practical military look to it, and the shield is spot on. One little detail that fans might spot is the little white wings painted on the sides of the helmet. It totally works! It’s almost like WWII bomber nose art. I love it!
Now don’t get all distressed by the doughy appearance of Marvel’s patriotic patriarch. That’s not Christ Evans in the suit. It’s a stunt driver, obviously brought in for the chase scene that is being shot. Actual images of Evans in full costume will be coming soon, I assure you.
Also spotted on the set were henchmen riding sleek (not-very-40s) motorcycles. Sharp-eyed fans will spot the HYDRA symbol on both. Looks like Cap will be facing off against both them and the Red Skull in the film.
Who’s excited? This guy!
Captain America is directed by Joe Johnston, and will hit theaters in 3D and 2D on July 22nd, 2011.
