Use USB Storage Media Right Now for the Xbox 360

As originally rumored and later confirmed by Microsoft’s Major Nelson at PAX East, any USB storage medium can now be formatted for use on the Xbox 360, as of April 6 (i.e., today).

If you’re thinking of hooking up your two external 1.5TB USB drives to your 360, remember the caveats:

  • 1GB minimum capacity (512 MB required for system use)
  • 16GB max capacity per drive, regardless of drive size
  • 2 USB media max in simultaneous use, meaning an absolute max of 32GB of external USB storage space

So, yes, you can hook up those terabyte drives to the 360, but that would be kind of a waste, no?  Surely, you can find a 16GB flash drive somewhere.
