Batman and the new Batmobile Revealed

After dangling a teaser of a partially covered Batmobile on Monday, Zach Snyder, director of the upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie, has given us the first look at Ben Affleck’s new Batman suit and the new set of wheels.

The suit clearly evokes the work of artists Jim Lee, Frank Miller, and Klaus Janson, all of whom have favored the style of shorter ears on the cowl, but the large symbol on the chest is clearly a nod to Batman’s appearance in Miller’s/Janson’s “The Dark Knight Returns.” The suit has also returned to a more, for lack of a better description, solid look, moving away from the sectioned armor seen in The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.

The Batmobile looks to be a hybrid of models that have come before, most notably sporting the large wheels of the Tumbler from Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy and a cockpit hood similar to the Tim Burton version seen in Batman and Batman Returns.

Opening in theaters on May 6, 2016, the next installment in DC’s/Warner’s alleged shared universe also stars Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, and Holly Hunter.

Rob is excited to be contributing to The Fridge. With one finger on the pulse of Marvel/DC and another on that of Hollywood's superhero franchises, no multi-issue arc or casting rumor is too small to report. When Rob opens The Fridge, the light inside shines green!
