Street Fighter X Mega Man Out Now!

Not too long ago, Capcom stunned (most of) its gaming audience when it announced a Street Fighter-Mega Man crossover in classic 8-bit stylings.  In a world where cease-and-desists are all the rage whenever someone begins a fan-made anything, it is amazing to see such a crossover reach the light of day — even moreso, to have its release be under the official “Capcom” banner.  So, we’re thankful that Street Fighter X Mega Man is a real thing.

In the Mega Man games of old, the player was tasked with choosing one of eight levels: each time, navigating the Blue Bomber through an thematically-appropriate level where the Robot Master awaited at the end.  Mega Man was awarded a new weapon with each victory, learned from the defeated Robot Master.

Street Fighter X Mega Man is exactly the same.  Mega Man will have to navigate through treacherous stages and battle Street Fighter characters old and new, learning their abilities on the way.  The order in which you take them, as always, is up to you (although we’re told that another set of eight will unlock after completing the first.)

This game has a serious amount of nostalgic joy behind it, although it should be warned that classic Mega Man gameplay also lends itself to classis Mega Man difficulty – you’ve been warned.  Still, the added glee of seeing our favorite blue sprite do Chun-Li’s lightning kicks is well worth the price of the FREE admission.
