As most of you know, OTF is based on the East Coast of the US, with each of our contributors living along the eastern seaboard. The superstorm knocked us out for a little while, but we’re alive and well.
I was under mandatory evac in my area just outside of DC for a day, and power has been spotty for a while after. Our Sr. Editor Tek is still without power as of this writing. Our Sr. Contributor Amy was stuck in Europe for a little while, since no flights could get her back home. Our website host, Squarespace, is based in lower Manhattan, which is a disaster zone. They have been diligently running fuel up and down 17 flights to keep the generators going that power their servers, preventing their websites to go down — a major kudos to them and all the work they’ve been doing.
In any case, if you’ve been wondering why we’ve been a bit radio silent of late, that’s the reason. All of us are safe, but we’re still dealing with power issues and family/friends to take care of all along the coast. We love you guys that come read our ramblings, but for now, they get priority. We’ll be back soon (and with some pretty cool stuff planned), but for now, we’re heading back into the trenches.
