SDCC 2012: Jon Armstrong and Mike Costa take us Behind the “Smoke and Mirrors”

What do you get when you cross comic books with legerdemain?  Something pretty amazing, as it turns out.

Magician Jon Armstrong (Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Magic Castle) and comic scribe Mike Costa (G.I. Joe: Cobra, Blackhawks) team up with artist Ryan Browne to bring us Smoke and Mirrors, a creator-owned comic published by IDW.

Smoke and Mirrors follows the story of Terry Ward, a sleight-of-hand magician, who finds himself suddenly transported to a world where magic is real and is the basis of all technology.  A young boy named Ethan discovers his tricks and is instantly enamoured, but others are far more wary of the man performing unexplainable magic.

Smoke and Mirrors #1-4 are available now from your favorite comics retailer and digitally via Comixology, with the concluding issue slated for release very soon.  A trade paperback is due in September.  Seriously, you should check it out – the trick in the first issue will blow your mind.
