Kicking off the convention weekend right with a “Preview Night Party,” prolific toymaker Hasbro offered journalists a sneak peek of their 2011 and 2012 product lineups from iconic brands like Transformers, Marvel, G.I. Joe, and Star Wars.
OTF was graciously invited to attend the party, and the little kids in all of us are actually pretty excited!
First up: the robots in diguise! Hasbro introduced us to the upcoming Transformers lineup in classic action figure scale. Scheduled for a release scheduled sometime in 2012, these figures are based on the recent Transformers Prime television show on The Hub network.
In a rather impressive display, Hasbro also showed off their “Mechtech” line, which features their “Ultimate Optimus Prime” figure. Boasting an impressively large size, Ultimate Optimus Prime marks the first time that Hasbro has done Optimus and his trailer to this scale. Ultimate Optimus Prime is already available with an SRP of $79.99
The robots from space weren’t the only shining gem, as the real American heroes had a fair bit of love too. G.I. Joe‘s new lineup features a pair of exclusive packs to Big Bad Toy Store. Dubbed the “Slaughter’s Marauders” and the “Dreadnoks” sets, each of these packs are new later this year for $49.99 each or $89.99 for both.
While the Joes remained mainly in their familiar 3.75″ stature, Hasbro is also releasing their “Real American Hero” series, featuring 12″ figures depicting actual American heroes – the fireman, the police officer, and the soldier (complete with working parachute!)
Hasbro and Marvel have teamed up to produce the official action figures to accompany the most anticipated new movie releases of the next year: Amazing Spider-Man and The Avengers. These figures are expected to hit the market about two months before the premieres of their respective movies’ release dates.
Also coming from the Marvel brand, Hasbro also showed off some incredibly accurate figures from the “Marvel Legends” line, depicting Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and Chris Evans as Captain America. They also showed off a rather impressive 16″ Masterworks Series Sentinel, complete with an attacking Wolverine at the top.
Think that’s all? Think again! Hasbro’s party continues with perhaps its most exciting line yet: Star Wars! Stay tuned for part 2, where we’ll show you what’s up in a galaxy far, far away.
