Warner Brothers Announces Full ‘Justice League’ Cast!

Watchtower Online!

The first piece of news out of WonderCon hit like a punch from the Man of Steel himself.  With the production of the third Batman film, the new Superman film, and the Wonder Woman TV pilot underway, and Green Lantern preparing for theatrical release, Warner Brothers/DC is getting the word out that Marvel’s Avengers will have some box office competition.

Having previously announced that a JLA film would stand on its own and not include actors such as Christian Bale, Henry Cavill, or Ryan Reynolds, Warner Brothers has taken the next big leap and announced who WILL be donning the most famous costumes in the DCU.

The ensemble lineup is as follows:

Jon Hamm as Superman/Clark Kent, Jim Caviezel as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Michelle Ryan as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince, James Van Der Beek as The Flash/Barry Allen, Matthew Fox as Green Lantern/Hal Jordan, and Kevin McKidd as Aquaman/Arthur Curry.

Unfortunately, there was no massive gathering onstage like the one seen for The Avengers at San Diego Comic Con last summer.  Fans were only treated to an announcement from Warner Brothers Pictures president, Jeff Robinov.

This just proves that WB/DC is racing to catch up to Marvel in movie theaters.  The approach is still different, since DC is choosing not to go with the actors who have already been established as some of these characters.  With a Flash film and Wonder Woman film (independent of the David E. Kelley TV series) still in development stages, this move seems a little too rushed.

It is also unknown if any side characters will make appearances in the film.  For example, Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow, Black Canary, or The Atom, to name a few.

Warner Brothers’ Justice League of America is scheduled to be released in 2D and 3D on April 1st, 2011.

Rob is excited to be contributing to The Fridge. With one finger on the pulse of Marvel/DC and another on that of Hollywood's superhero franchises, no multi-issue arc or casting rumor is too small to report. When Rob opens The Fridge, the light inside shines green!
