Geoffrey Rush is Tomar-Re!

Geoffrey Rush, you have the ability to overcome great fear.  Welcome to the Green Lantern Corps!

Geoff Johns, DC’s Chief Creative Officer and resident Green Lantern guru, has announced on Twitter that Australian actor Geoffrey Rush will provide the voice of Green Lantern Corpsman, Tomar-Re in Green Lantern

We caught a few glimpses of the notable Xudaran in the GL trailer, but had not received any word on who would be lending their voice to the beaked alien.  With Rush cast in the role, Tomar-Re is getting the royal treatment.  Geoffrey Rush recently won acclaim (and a third Academy Award nomination) for his performance in The King’s Speech, and will once again appear as Captain Barbosa in the 4th installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series, On Stranger Tides, due in theaters on May 20th.

Tomar was previously voiced by John Larroquette in the direct-to-DVD animated movie, Green Lantern: First Flight.

With this selection now on the record, hopefully announcements regarding the voices of Kilowog and Salaak won’t be too far behind.

Directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale), Green Lantern also stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Mark Strong, and Peter Sarsgaard.  It hits theaters in 2D and 3D on June 17th.

Rob is excited to be contributing to The Fridge. With one finger on the pulse of Marvel/DC and another on that of Hollywood's superhero franchises, no multi-issue arc or casting rumor is too small to report. When Rob opens The Fridge, the light inside shines green!
