Boston-based Demiurge Studios, known principally for their collaborative work with top-tier studios on blockbuster games like Borderlands and Mass Effect among several others, has finally released details on their first original IP: Shoot Many Robots.
Aside from the titular clue, not much is known about the game since it was first announced with a teaser trailer last year. While there’s still a wealth of information being kept close to the vest, Demiurge has started to let the details slip about its downloadable title due later this year, describing the game as a 4-player, co-op, run-and-gun, action-RPG, “Robot Murder Simulator.” (side note: is that a record for hypens in a sentence?) From the newly released trailer, they certainly weren’t lying:
Albert Reed, Demiurge Studio’s co-founder and studio director, said in a press release:
We’ve worked on a ton of amazing projects over the last few years, but we knew it was finally time to bring our own original creation to life. Our team is proud to be pouring every ounce of sweat, smoke, shrapnel, chainsaw grease and raw manpower we have into this project. Get ready – robots are the new zombies, and we can’t wait to show you why. For now, you’ll just have to eke what you can from the teaser!
It looks like we’re going to get a lot of unapologetic mayhem. Set the right price point, and I think many of us will be happy to enlist to quell the robotic uprising.
Shoot Many Robots is slated for a download-only release later this year, but no platform or pricing has been announced.
