“If it bleeds, we can kill it.”

You can’t keep a good hunter down.

After decloaking in the 1987 sci-fi favorite, (and returning in a series of mediocre sequels) the Predators are back.  In case you didn’t know, Robert Rodriguez (Desperado, Sin City) has taken a hold of the franchise as producer and writer of the upcoming Predators, due in theaters on July 7th.  Rodriguez has also chosen to share 2 minutes of footage and insight on the latest in the Predator series.  io9 has a look at the new Predators, the cast, and some brand new hunting companions.

Some odd casting choices have been made for this one.  Headlining the cast are Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, and Laurence Fishburne.  Not exactly formidable opponents for the dreadlocked aliens when compared to the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, but then again, Danny Glover took out a Predator as well, so I guess some are easier to kill than others.

Anyway, from what they show in the preview, Rodriguez and director Nimrod Antal have tapped into what made the original Predator great.  A jungle setting, a twitchy group of guys, and lots and lots of firepower.  Throw in a new hoard of hunters with new toys and pets, and you might have the movie that Predator fans have been waiting for ever since the original.

Check out the official trailer when it hits on 3/18.  “Stick around.”

Rob is excited to be contributing to The Fridge. With one finger on the pulse of Marvel/DC and another on that of Hollywood's superhero franchises, no multi-issue arc or casting rumor is too small to report. When Rob opens The Fridge, the light inside shines green!
